Tomáš Baťa returned to his homeland in the same year 1989 the Communist regime collapsed. The first place he visited was the grave of his father who founded the family shoe empire. Tomáš Baťa Sr. died in an aircraft accident in 1932 in his own plane during a flight from Otrokovice, South Moravia to Switzerland.
